Dumas Piano
Who are we ?
The story of Dumas Piano begins in 2005 in a small village in Vexin. After 10 years working for a major Parisian piano dealer under the guidance of Roger Mann (aka Jeannot), Nicolas Dumas, an entrepreneur at heart, decided to set up his own business.
Dumas Piano, the pianos of the Vexin!
His ambition: to create a restoration workshop and offer a full range of acoustic piano services.
Nicolas Dumas is a graduate of the Itemm (European Technological Institute for Music Professions) , a structure for instrumental craftsmanship which trains in tuning, repairing and making pianos.
During his apprenticeship, he was trained by a workshop leader recognized by the great Parisian conservatories while following advanced training courses in the Schimmel factory in Germany or at Yamaha Music France .
The transmission of knowledge
Since its creation, the company has developed, expanded and above all been enriched with very valuable skills and know-how contributed by all the employees and partners with whom it collaborates.
This professional enrichment allowed him to highlight his values which are the passion for the piano, the love of the craftsmanship, the work of hands and noble materials, the sharing of skills.
Dumas Piano has always valued the transmission of knowledge through learning; it seems essential for Nicolas that by training apprentices, they in turn become bearers of knowledge in terms of piano making, the values of craftsmanship and thus perpetuate the techniques of a manual trade that he loves.
Partnerships
Today the company has become a partner of locally renowned jazz and classical music festivals. Some great international pianists call on our historic Erard piano because it has been entirely restored to its original condition using period techniques; It appears that playing on a contemporary piano to musical works gives immense pleasure to pianists and spectators alike.
An eco-responsible commitment
Since its creation, the company has used green energy, ie electricity produced from renewable energy sources. Most of the products we use in catering are natural; varnishes and glues mainly based on bones, fish, water…
Finally, while evolving, Dumas Piano has also made a commitment to the planet by recycling 100% of the pianos entrusted to it for destruction. Each part, each piece of wood, metal or ivory is disassembled, sorted, stored and reintroduced into a manufacturing process. This is also why we favor second-hand rather than new pianos. We are thus labeled Répar’acteurs by the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of Hauts de France.
Over 30 years of piano experience!
Dumas Piano workshop founded in 2005
After 10 years’ experience with a major Parisian piano dealer, Nicolas Dumas decided to set up his own business in 2005. He opened his workshop in the Vexin region of France. The name of the piano workshop was naturally Dumas Piano, les pianos du Vexin!
Passionate about the instrument and a pianist, he introduces himself in a portrait where he reveals a little more about himself and explains the creation and development of Dumas Piano.
