11 May 2020

Piano Bluthner 170

This Blüthner 170, made in East Germany, has just arrived in our workshop for restoration.

The particularity of this piano is its “Aliquot” system.

The “ALIQUOT” system, patented in 1873, endows the piano with a fourth string, not struck by the hammer, which resonates sympathetically by being tuned in unison and which makes it possible to develop colored harmonics in the treble and bass medium. ‘acute.

This system is still available on current grand pianos.
